Acer’s Money-Making Subsidiaries Report Good Results In Q1; ACSI Reaches New High in Single Quarter

Acer’s (2353-TW) money-making subsidiaries reported a positive first quarter. Acer Cyber Security (ACSI) (6690-TW) announced a record quarterly operating result, benefiting from growing demand in the information security market and the merger and acquisition effect. 

Weblink International Inc. (6776-TW) also achieved a new quarterly gross profit margin in its first quarter. Acer Synergy Tech Corp. (6751-TW) announced that it would spend NT$100 million on a strategic investment in Sunrise Engineering. 

ACSI’s first-quarter revenue reached NT$358 million, up 38.38% QoQ and 19.94% YoY. 

The gross margin was 37.73%, down 4.21 percentage points QoQ and 1.17 percentage points YoY, while the operating income ratio was 9.19%, down 3.05 percentage points QoQ and up 0.67 percentage points YoY. 

Net income after tax was NT$28.408 million, an increase of 6.3% QoQ and 69.85% YoY, and net income per share was NT$1.67, a record high for a single quarter. 

ACSI points out that it will continue to expand its corporate operating value and maximize shareholders’ equity. 

ACSI has established a subsidiary, ACSI Academy, to train information security professionals. 

ACSI has also acquired 100% of Acer e-Enabling Data Center shares to complete cloud architecture planning and integration services with the aim of expanding its customer base. 

Weblink’s revenue for the first quarter reached NT$5.799 billion, a decrease of 10.37% QoQ and an increase of 42.66% YoY. 

Gross margin reached a record high of 7.2%, up 0.67% QoQ and 2.29% YoY, while operating profit margin was 2.03%, up 0.15% QoQ and 0.57% YoY. 

Net income after tax was NT$85.32 million, down 26.05% QoQ and up 48.36% YoY, with net income per share of NT$1.05. 

Acer Synergy Tech specializes in information system integration services. In recent years, it has combined the global resources of its parent company, the Acer Group, to support its customers’ expansion into overseas markets. 

On Tuesday (May 3), Acer also announced that it would make a strategic investment of NT$100 million in Shine Passion Engineering, a dust-free room builder. 

On the operating front, Acer Synergy Tech’s revenue for the first quarter reached NT$314 million, down 2.91% QoQ and up 1.45% YoY. 

The gross margin was 11.54%, a decrease of 0.21 percentage points QoQ and an increase of 2.18 percentage points YoY, while the operating profit margin was 3.33%, a decrease of 0.47 percentage points QoQ and an increase of 0.69 percentage points YoY. 

Net income after tax was NT$8.459 million, a decrease of 23.93% QoQ and an increase of 31.35% YoY, with a net income per share of NT$0.57.
