Acer Inc. (2353-TW) announced its May revenue on Wednesday (June 10), which rose to NT$22.177 billion, up 15.6% month-on-month and down 10.6% year-on-year as the overall supply chain improved. Cumulative revenue for the first five months reached NT$119.776 billion, a decrease of 1.27% year-on-year.

Acer said e-sports business and Chromebook product shipments grew significantly in May. Its over-the-counter, emerging and public subsidiaries also reported a 9.8% monthly and 26.8% annual increase in revenue in May.

According to the company’s multi-business growth strategy, Acer’s non-PC and display businesses accounted for 21.3% of its total revenue in May.

Revenue increased 12.1% month-on-month and 18.3% year-on-year, with Acer’s gaming and UMC revenue increasing 69.4% and 30.2% month-on-month, respectively, outperforming the overall average.

Cumulative non-PC and display revenue increased 26.6% in the first five months.

Looking ahead, Acer Chairman and CEO Jason Chen pointed out that the impact of semiconductor supply woes and China’s lockdown restrictions is gradually slowing down.

However, the PC market is already experiencing greater supply than demand, and Acer has been controlling component inventories since the beginning of the year.

Based on the current situation, the second half of the year is not expected to be better than last year. Still, it is expected to be better than the same period in 2019 before the pandemic.
