Soochow University and C-Media recently held the “Meta Quest2 Unboxing Event” at its Wai Shuang Xi Campus. The event was co-organized by Soochow University’s Office of Academic Affairs and the Global Research Center for the Sustainable Application of Confucian Wisdom

Soochow University President Pan Wei-ta thanked C-Media on Thursday (June 15) for donating 10 Meta Quest2 devices for Soochow University faculty to experience the world of Metaverse.

The move will help introduce the future development of Metaverse, community communication, game entertainment, content creation, virtual economy and other application concepts into the curriculum and cultivate the forward-thinking of Soochow students.

Pan also expressed hope that Meta will provide special education programs to help Soochow University be the first in the Metaverse world.

In response to Pan’s words, Meta Singapore’s representative, Huang Yi-wen, said that the main purpose of Meta Quest2 is to understand Taiwan’s ideas and needs for the equipment and to provide full assistance.

To this end, C-Media Chairman Eric Cheng taught Soochow teachers how to operate the equipment and taught a class at Soochow University, assisting Soochow University students in entering the world of Metaverse.

Regarding the Meta Quest2, Lee Ke-ming, convenor of the Advisory Committee of Soochow University’s Global Research Center for the Sustainable Application of Confucian Wisdom, said that the Metaverse is the hottest field of technology today.

Combined with the profound content of Chinese spiritual wisdom, it can enrich the content of virtual worlds and provide a better understanding of why (why Metaverse?) and how (how to achieve a predetermined purpose?) to use the Metaverse.

Soochow University is actively collaborating with C-Media to establish the Metaverse Innovation Center, which is coordinated by Soochow University’s Director and Secretary Kai-Chieh Chia.

Through the integration of virtual and real platforms, the university hopes to cultivate a combination of business, creativity, technology, talent and capital and to connect with industry through matching opportunities actively, Chia explained.
